Ten Things

Sunrise on Rainier 2007. (Picture by Deb)

1. Sometimes a quote will come along and it has a lot of meaning at that point in my life. This is one of those right now. "There are seasons in life. Don't ever let anyone deny you the blessings and joy of one season because they believe you should be in - or stay in - another season."
~Jane Clayson Johnson (I am a Mother)

2. I am working from home today entering data into Excel files. There are a few unguarded brownies on the kitchen table. Keith, if you're reading this, I apologize in advance for anything that may happen to those brownies this afternoon.

3. Weekend hikes seem more lovely than ever this summer. Odds are we will not be around these parts next summer and I am enjoying every trail to its fullest.

4. I miss Washington and the family that lives there. See you soon!

5. Caterpillars destroyed my garden lettuce last week. Complete decimation. Store lettuce is just not the same.

6. I never thought I would say this, but I am jealous of Texas. As of last week it can claim the presence of Melinda and Jake, and Karen and Merrill along with their sweet newborn Maya. Not to mention Paul and Jenae and their cute kids (my niece and nephews).

7. I love holiday weekends. Good people, fun hikes, delicious food. I didn't want to go back to work today.

8. Keith cleaned out the fridge and scrubbed down the bathroom. I think he should be sainted for that.

9. As pretty as fireworks are I can't watch them without feeling bad for all the dogs in America. Plato, I hope you fared okay.

10. Summers never last long enough. Never. Neither do brownies.

I identify with so many things in this post. I love that quote, I would definitely have eaten those brownies, and I often think about all the poor dogs around when the fireworks start going off.

Just to let you know, Plato actually did pretty well. He stayed in the hallway by the garage, and I even saw some tail wagging in the midst of the celebrating. :)

Ah, blissful summer. Can't you stick around awhile? Enjoy your trips to the mountains that I miss so dearly!

I love your list! It's true, summer and brownies never last long enough. I've missed having a Provo summer. Texas is nice and all but I sure love Provo summers.
