Momma

Chillin' on the hammock in Gramma and Grampa's backyard.
Charlie is a pretty late talker, or more accurately: he will be a late talker once he gets around to it. At 19 months "Aaa" means everything from "open" to "car" to "speed bump" to "the AC just turned off" and everything in between. There is an on-going game in our house and it goes like this: Charlie says "Aa" and we try to figure out what he means and then get him to say the real word. It has been met with limited success. For instance, Gramma got him to slowly pronounce the word "off" (oo-aaaaa-fffffffffffffff) after much effort on a three-hour long car ride but it hasn't stuck since then. So our wait for his first word (defined as a word he uses in context without prompting) has continued.

Until Sunday afternoon.

Keith carried Charlie into the bedroom where I was after his nap. They come around the corner and no sooner does Charlie see me then he exclaims a happy and purposeful "Momma!"

He could have gotten away with anything the rest of the day.

Yours truely,

Happiest. Momma. Ever.
