"Doggy" and "Snow"

One lovely morning we were all in the living room when Charlie suddenly ran over to the sliding door pointing and exclaiming "doggy! doggy!" We thought it must be one of the neighbors dogs but something about how incredibly interested Charlie was made us come over and take a look. It was a deer, happily munching the decorative bunch grass and staring right back at Charlie. And to give Charlie credit it was a teeny deer, almost as small as a dog.

Sometimes Keith and I contribute to Charlie's misnomers. Like when we had a freezing rain/ice storm but knew it was the closest thing to snow we would get this year, we took him out and called the ice snow.

Rockin' the Frogy Boots.

Ice leaves.
In the pictures you can imagine that it is snow, but it was pretty clear at the time that we were walking on balls of ice. I tried to show Charlie how to make snowballs but it didn't work. Apparently there is a reason people don't make balls out of hail/ice. Clear little balls of ice don't compact into one big ball no matter how hard you try.

Luckily, Charlie didn't care one bit that his snow day was a farce. He loved it.

Love those green froggy galoshes! And it's probably for the best that your ice "snowballs" didn't work out. They sound painful. ;) The ice leaves however look really pretty! Miss you!

Katie, Charlie is beautiful! I loved getting caught up on what you all have been up to. I'm so glad he's coming along so well - and great job on making the traditional cranberry bread braid PKU friendly!! I'm seriously proud of that - from one momma to another, who is trying to keep some traditions in the works. I miss you! We love you guys, too. Can't wait to see you!
