Fun Times Lately

It hasn't been all seizures and seriousness around here. With the aid of friends and parents we have been enjoying some good times too.
First professional pedicure. I felt a little silly about how happy my pampered and pretty toes made me whenever I looked at them. Funny story: Emily and Julia took me to get pedicures. After we picked out our colors we sit down in these fancy massage chairs. Part way through I start having a seizure and I could see that I was freaking out the sweet gal working on my feet. By the time the seizure was over all I could think to say was "It's not you. I have a brain tumor." I wish I had thought of that line back in my dating days.
Happy days at the park.

Fun cleaning. This is categorized as fun because Granny B let Charlie help (which he LOVED) and I didn't help much at all.

Rock skipping lessons and walks around the lake.
A tasty and wonderful Mother's Day.

Riding the train at the park.
First time on the carrousel. This was one of the few big smiles during the ride. Most of the time he just looked around like he was trying to figure it all out. Days later, out of the blue, he would say that he "had fun on train and carrousel" and "horse go up, down, round and round and round."
Swimming. Heaven for a pregnant lady in the summer. Charlie mostly likes sitting on the top step and splashing. And he LOVES his "froggy floaties."
A belated anniversary mini-canoe trip on the lake. It was soooooo nice.

Reading books in the play tent.

For the week of the 4th Uncle Shawn came down from Philly. From the 3rd to the 4th we went to Wilmington to play at the beach. It was great!
Charlie was fine in the water until he saw a "large" wave (at least that is how he would describe it) approaching. As he turned to run he slipped and fell. He started crying and that was the end of his willingness to do anything but be held or sit in the stroller. It may have scarred him for life.

Uncle Shawn and my handsome hubby catching a wave. The water was so nice!

Charlie vicariously making sand sculptures through me. I think he still had fun...

Lake and Love

My sweet mom has been visiting us for just over a week and hung out with Charlie so Keith and I could go celebrate our anniversary. Keith came home early from work and we headed to the lake to go boating. I had the idea that we wanted to take out a paddle boat instead of a canoe so that we could sit next to each other (it makes smooching easier ya know). However I forgot how cumbersome a square boat could be, so we didn't explore as much of the lake as we had hoped. I guess we will just have to go again! We saw turtles, nesting geese, and thoroughly enjoyed just floating on the lake together.

After boating we had dinner at a trendy little restaurant in downtown Raleigh, walked the streets a bit, and came home to watch a flick with my mom. The date was simple and perfect. Thanks Mom!

Not the average anniversary

August 2008, our first date

Yesterday was our second anniversary. I spent it running last minute errands in Provo and Keith spent it driving a U-Haul across Colorado and Kansas with my dad. Tomorrow Charlie and I will meet him in S. Louie.

Thanks for the most wonderful two years, Keith. I am a stronger, happier, better woman with you. I love you!

My Parents

32 years ago today these two tied the knot. I know there are more than a few of us around who are sure glad they did.

I noticed Mom took her glasses off for most of the wedding pictures. Sorry Mom, this was the only one I had on my computer. I think it is cute.

Backpacking in Patagonia

Canoeing in Canada

Mountain biking in the Andes

Backpacking with the crew in Washington

Thanks Mom and Dad for bringing us along for the adventure. We sure are blessed to be your kids.

Good Times

What a busy few weeks! Classes are done! Wahoo! And the work is just revving up.
Keith and I took a trip up to the Spokane area to check on my plots and take data. They are coming along well and Keith is a great field assistant.

Alex turned 16! Don't ask me how that happened; I have no clue. I still remember dressing him up in doll clothes.

My parents had birthdays and turned... well, age doesn't really apply to folks like them does it. I love these two!

Keith and I had our first anniversary. Can you believe it!?! Best year EVER! To celebrate we took a day off between the Spokane trip and my next trip to southern Utah (the camera ate my pics). We went to the tulip festival at Thanksgiving Point (so relaxing and beautiful!) and went to the aquarium to see the new penguins and touch the manta rays (so fun that we forgot to take pictures). It was a great day!

Above the waterfalls at the tulip festival an owl had made a nest and laid her eggs on the artificial cliffs. Can you see her?

Life is so good.
