For those of you who aren't aware, our son, little Charlie, was born last night, January 2nd. It was a bit of a surprise being almost 3 weeks early, but we're excited to have him. So handsome! For those of you who already know this, here are some pictures.



This is Charlie with mom just minutes after birth, prior to being rushed off to the nursery for respiratory care.


This is Charlie in the nursery, prior to being put on the CPAP machine and hooked up with monitors and an IV.


Here's the little guy holding Daddy's hand. He has several monitors and and IV on. The headgear is just to hold the CPAP in place.


Here's Mommy with Charlie, just before he was transferred to another hospital's NICU for respiratory assistance.



Here's little Charlie all bundled up. The tubes coming out of his mouth are connected to an Oscillator, which is a device designed to give him super powers... like breathing better.

As of about 2 hours ago, little Charlie had been taken off the Oscillator and was breathing room air (no oxygen supplement) on his own without any form of assistance. Still being monitored but looking good!

We are so happy. I'm not quite sure yet what it means to be a father, but I know this little guy is going to have a lot to teach me and I'm going to do my best to learn. Thank you all for your faith, love, prayers, and support through this time. Katie is doing well, just tired and sore. She should be released from the hospital tomorrow morning.
